As kids, the phrase, “act like a lady,” was code for everything we weren’t—quiet, clean, compliant.

The older we get, though, the less we smile for strangers and the more we wonder why strangers think we should smile for them in the first place.

Ladies of Misrule amplifies the voices of people in the Emory community who trouble, subvert, and expand notions of ladyhood in the pursuit of a more just world.
